Course Introduction

00:00:00

Hey, my name is Anthony Sequeira with CBT Nuggets, and I want to be the first to welcome you to this CompTIA A plus course. This is for exam 220-901. I don't know how you found me, but you did a great job because this is the greatest A plus course on the planet.

00:00:15

And I know, I've looked at the other ones that are out there. So get ready to have fun with us as we move through our videos called Nuggets here at CBT Nuggets, and we master these course materials. Now I've got some homework for you right away, and that is to go ahead and acquire the CompTIA A plus blueprint.

00:00:34

Now you can do this up at the CompTIA website. You got to fill out a bunch of forms and click a bunch of buttons. I made it very easy for you. When a course here at CBT Nuggets is finished, when all the Nuggets are done on the course page, we have a link to download right over here, the Nugget Lab files.

00:00:54

I have placed, for you, in the Nugget Lab files the blueprint for both the 901 exam and the 902 exam. So I want you to print that out, because it's going to be our guide as we master the material that's on this particular test. By the way, also in those Nugget Lab files, I've got the electronic flash cards for you that go with this course.

00:01:17

You're going to love this, hundreds of flash cards that map directly to the material that you need to know. In fact, in the next Nugget in this course, I'll teach you how to install the software for these flash cards. So we can see when we examined the blueprint from CompTIA for this exam, the exam objectives that 34% of our test is going to be made up of hardware questions.

00:01:40

Make sense, we need to learn all about the hardware we're using today. Networking these devices together, 21%, mobile devices, 17%, and a hardware and network troubleshooting a whopping 28%. I can tell you there is a ton of scenario based troubleshooting questions on this exam.

00:01:59

That will be one of our major focuses as we move throughout this course. Now notice they literally tell you bullet point by bullet point what you need to know, and you're going to see that my Nuggets follow this order exactly. Maybe sometimes I have to break one of these up into two Nuggets, but you're going to feel very comfortable as you go through the Nuggets because they correlate and tie back directly to these exam objectives.

00:02:26

Every single bullet and sub bullet we cover to ensure you're ready on exam day. Now if you don't have any idea about what an exam like this would be like. Maybe you're dipping your toe for the first time in the world of IT certification, congratulations, that's awesome!

00:02:46

Now I went and made a four minute Nugget for you on the exam. I mean, we just talk about the exam itself, how you register, how you take the exam, what's it like and so I want you to check that video out. It won't be video number 21 by the way, I'm not done with the courses I record this.

00:03:02

So it will be more like video 43 or something. It'll be at the very end. In that Nugget I talked to you about a concept that I do in here and that's hands on lab Nuggets. These are very important because they're covering material that might be, in what's called a simulation, inside of your exam.

00:03:21

If, again, you're not familiar with a simulation inside of a certification exam, have no fear. That nugget that focuses on the exam will literally demonstrate one for you. So I promised myself I'd keep this course introduction short, which is difficult for me because as you might have guessed already, I really love to talk.

00:03:40

So let's just wrap it up, because we've got an incredible amount of awesome content to get to as you and I explore the wonderful world of CompTIA A plus, specifically the 220-901 exam. As you saw, we're going to learn all about the hardware we use today, how it can network together, how we can troubleshoot all of this as we go through these Nuggets.

00:04:04

I sure hope this Nugget was informative for you, and I'd like to thank you for viewing.
